About The Founder - Mokichi Okada
Mokichi Okada was born in Tokyo, Japan in 1882 and grew up to become a successful entrepreneur. However, his business eventually went bankrupt, and he also lost his wife and children to illnesses. These circumstances drove him to a search for the answer to human life and happiness, and he was gradually drawn to the mysteries of the workings of the world. After years of investigations, Okada reached a conclusion that this world, or the universe, was permeated with an "absolutely pure energy (spirit)" though imperceptible to human senses, all creatures including human beings were innately pure existences. He understood misfortunes to be brought about by "impurities" in the invisible realm of spirit, which was created by human actions and contaminated the pure nature of individuals, resulting in adversely affecting their physical and mental health. Okada then became devoted to find out ways to purify such impurities in the human beings and in the world, and methods to utilize the pure energy of Nature to facilitate health of the body and mind. Purifying therapy, Nature Farming system, and activities of Arts and Culture are methods he established as a result. All his activities were based on his conviction that accomplishing truly healthy body and mind was nothing but realizing the world of new civilization, a world longed for by humanity. In 1935, Okada inaugurated a religious corporation Dai-Nihon Kannon Kai (later to become Sekai Kyusei Kyo) as he recognized a need for an organization to carry out these activities for their global proliferation. He then recognized the importance of an organization to be inclusive of all people, and established another organization Dai-Nihon Kenkou Kyokai (Japan health association) in 1936, so that people with any faiths could join without affecting their religious beliefs. MOA International follows the line of the latter, Dai-Nihon Kenkou Kyokai. Having devoted his life to the health and happiness of people and the world, Okada left this world in 1955, at the age of 72. But his passion, philosophy and practices still live in us, MOA International to the present. |
